Unsound festival-goers paint performances after photography is banned
As previously reported, Poland’s Unsound Festival banned the use of cameras at their event in Krakow this year. They did, however, encourage fans to sketch and paint performances.
And that’s just what many did, jotting pictorial accounts of Julianna Barwick and more.
Explaining their decision to ban photography, the festival previously said in a statement: “The idea behind this ban is not to denigrate photographers or cast aspersions upon the desire to take snapshots of one’s own life, but rather an experiment in resisting contemporary habits as they pertain to instant documentation, “sharing,” and lived experience.”
