Pixies' Black Francis to publish graphic novel
Pixies released their comeback short-player EP-1 to mixed reviews earlier this year, but frontman Black Francis will be hoping his first venture into graphic novels will fare better critically.
As The Guardian report, The Good Inn was penned with the band’s official biographer Josh Frank, with drawings by illustrator Steven Appleby.
The comic’s story is set in Toulon, France and involves a protagonist called “Solider Boy”. A pitch from the book’s publisher reads:
“Navigating past homicidal gypsies, combative soldiers and porn-peddling peasants, he takes refuge in a secluded inn, where he finds himself centre stage in the making of the world’s first narrative pornographic film.”
It will be published in May 2014.
Meanwhile, Pixies have announced that they will headline the Sunday leg of next year’s Field Day festival, as well as appearing at Primavera 2014. Bassist Kim Shattuck was recently fired from the band.
