Listen: Alice Boman – Waiting (1987 Remix)
One of the most painfully beautiful songs of 2013 gets stripped back to its very core as Swedish newcomer 1987 delivers the first official remix of Alice Boman.
Whilst the original felt like it was being beamed in through a century old gramophone, the new re-work by 1987 seems to arrive from an entirely different world altogether. Boman’s longing vocals are filtered, pitch shifted and fed through lashings of distant hall reverb. And, although the stark piano of the former version is still omnipresent, the atmosphere is now weighted in a deep unrecognisable fog of texture and ambience.
After impressing last week with her debut live show, Alice Boman continues her brief London residency playing support to fellow Swede Mariam The Believer at St Pancras Old Church on October 9. The following evening, Boman will be accompanied by a 22 piece orchestra as she headlines The Coveryard on 10 October.
‘Waiting (1987 Remix)’ is streaming exclusively below whilst a reminder of the original track’s understated grandeur follows in video form.
