Echo Project Episode 2: Tanya Tagaq on Food
Taking traditional Throat-singing techniques as a starting point Tanya Tagaq and her band (Jean Martin and Jesse Zubot) take an experimental, experiential trip through electronic textures, punk and raw emotion. Tagaq’s chants, howls, moans and growls fuse with jarring violin and propulsive drums to create a deeply physical and emotional experience.
Episode 2 of The Echos Project was recorded at The Bellwoods Bewery in Toronto, during Tagaq’s touring show soundtracking 1922 documentary Nanook of The North. In it Tagaq explains the importance of food to her, both in life and in terms of its influence on her physical performance. She even found time to share her favourite recipe : Caribou with Blueberries.
