Watch: Story Books – Simple Kids [Best Fit Premiere]
‘Simple Kids’ is a saddening tale of young love from Kent 5-piece Story Books. The brand new video follows its protagonist through relationship snapshots and a reluctant embrace of youth culture.
In what could have turned out like an arty Skins episode, emerges as neatly and poignantly presented thanks, in part, to the quality of the track itself. A thundering drum sound and chunky chord progression is joined by a simple melody and catching arpeggio riff. The vocal is mature and interesting, and the use of dynamics is mirrored tidily by the journey we are taken on by the video, ending with glimmers of hope among the tears. Watch this tale of a not so ‘simple kid’ with this Best Fit Premiere.
‘Simple Kids’ is taken from the band’s debut EP Too Much A Hunter, out 29th April on Communion.
