Mysterious duo Lovelier Other are following up their killer 2012 debut ‘Leave This Behind’ with another beguiling piano-led cut of watercolour dream pop called ‘Hidden Shelters’ and more enchanting accompanying visuals. There’s a distinctly organic feel to both the arrangement of the music and the cinematography; twinkling notes repeat in a swirling patterns and dusky vocals soothe like verses from a childhood lullaby while blurring, faded shots display the two men who we assume are behind the music, the faceless MW and LV, meandering through stark wilderness.
Given how skilled Lovelier Other are at weaving intricate poppy melodies into shadowy electronic atmospherics; it’s really quite amazing that ‘Hidden Shelters’ is only their second recorded piece. The music industry’s clamour for more begins again today.
