Watch: Its Nate – Windy (Prod. by Sumgii)
2013 is a really exciting time to be in music. The landscape is not just shifting, it’s diverging. Within the throngs of Coca-Cola, Karmaloop mainstream hip hop acts there is an underground scene bubbling up. We’ve talked before about how computer-based music’s strides in the last few years was the impetus the music world needed to take that next step. Well the footprints continue to imprint across pockets of underground scenes; in basement clubs and late night bedroom studio sessions, where the lines between styles like grime, UK garage, hip hop, rap and beyond, scenes we thought to be so distinct, have begun to crossover.
Enter Its Nate. With versatility to his style, and the key word being style, and the fact that he has his own, he can flow seamlessly over grimey, billowing beats, like ‘Windy’ and Jon Phonics’ ‘FX WITH THE LIFE’, to the fluffier, jazzed out numbers like ‘Schemin’’, and ‘? You Came For’ (which samples Jacques Greene), both off his new mixtape. No matter the beat, Its Nate maintains his compositional flow flawlessly, while helping shape beats and tweaks into something even bigger. Hats off to you sir.
Watch the video ‘Windy’, Its Nate’s first single off his mixtape NeverAverageTalkingExcellent, which is defintely worth a listen. We have a hunch this emerging MC is just getting started, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.
