The work of Reykjavik-born Logi Pedro Stefansson and Karin Sveinsdottir, Young Karin’s debut exploration into pop is as charmingly left-of-center as they come.
“Hearts” is a vulnerable, stammering snapshot of young romance: A lingering ode to a one night stand (born from house parties, vodka and fireworks, if their new video is to be believed at least).
The pair’s chiming beats and skittering dream pop hooks find themselves in Purity Ring territory, Sveinsdóttir’s regretful, honest sighs of “I hope they’ll never know/How low our hearts can go” providing a beautiful clarity to the bittersweet electronic proceedings.
