Have you ever seen Performance with Mick Jagger? It’s ridiculous. It veers between hilarious crime thriller and awkward soft porn on an almost minute-by-minute basis. I’ve never quite been able to work out whether it’s ironic or not – but either way, it’s brilliant.
The video for ‘Friend Crush’ (which we previously featured as a SOTD) by Brooklyn band Friends is, in essence, a 3 minute long 2011 remake of Performance. Its salient characteristics are as follows: woozy good-acid visuals; horribly attractive girls; glitter; taxidermy. Enjoy.
