Watch: Broke feat. MØ – Let The Youth Go Mad [Best Fit UK Premiere]
When ‘Let The Youth Go Mad’ – the incredible hook up between two of Denmark’s most thrilling new acts – first dropped a few weeks back we alluded to the über-NSFW accompanying video. Here it is, a video so inappropriate for working hours we actually arrived in the office under cover of darkness to get this post up.
Featuring Danish jumpstyle star Tobias Dahl Larsen as the ultimate anti-hero who wakes up frustrated in a wrecked apartment and immediately begins skinning up, necking vodka and attending to his chronic masturbation issue, all in gratuitous detail. MØ’s fraught narrative has been captured perfectly by director Ian Isak Ploug Ochoa whose provocative visuals help add an extra layer of brooding menace to her paralysing cry of “Fuck you let the youth go mad”.
The guys from Broke have been watching and working with MØ for years and on ‘Let The Youth Go Mad’ their aim was to take her back to the time when “they first fell in love with her” and “her stuff was harder and dirtier,” they said. Well they’ve certainly managed that and the affection is mutual as MØ comments, “I love Broke’s music. Their energy and mood is very intense, I can relate 100% to their universe, sound and visual appearance. And the rowdiness in the chorus is just a true pleasure. I would love to do more choruses like that.”
If there’s any justice in the world she will, because ‘Let The Youth Go Mad’ is quite simply the most exciting collab we’ve heard this year.
