Tropics performs "Rapture" in a stunning new session for Best Fit
"I've always wanted to work with real string players," says Chris Ward, the writer and producer behind Tropics, talking about the session he made with Best Fit.
"I'd always actually had it in mind for many points of expressing the album live as its so far detracted from my usual electronic approach...the emotion is more live, vocal and instrument led."
Released earlier this year, Rapture finds the 27-year old London based Ward fusing ambience with avant-garde and firing creatively on all cylinders. For our session performance of the album's title track, Ward composed the string arrangements along with Dan Oates: "[Dan] was also one of the players - a friend put me in touch with him and we hit it off. I've never done something like this before and it was incredible to see it come to life on the day.
"We shot this on a Saturday night in front of a few friends in a beautiful old darkly lit church in West London."
