Watch: Lianne La Havas – Forget (Best Fit Session)
The first TV performance of Lianne La Havas – on Jools Holland’s Later, back in the autumn of last year) was something akin to a musical deus ex machina. The soothing, controlled and note-perfect delivery of the 22 year old London-born singer and guitarist was revelatory – the stuff goosebumps are made of. She brings a truly unique aspect to her chosen sound: a voice that resonates with a smokey husk one minute and a honeyed lilt the next combined with guitar skills that make us weak at the knees.
Our encounter with Lianne also happened to be our most ambitious Best Fit Session to date. In the ruins of a South London asylum chapel, she belted out the defiant anthem-in-the-making ‘Forget’. Take a look and we think you’ll agree: this girl has talent to spare.
Lianne La Havas’ Forget EP is set to drop on 13 February via Warner Bros ahead of her debut album, scheduled for release in the Spring. You can also buy ‘Forget’ right now on iTunes.
