Kyla La Grange performs "The Knife" for Best Fit
Kyla La Grange returned this year as a renewed force: still the quietly impressive song-crafter who crept into our frame of vision three years back but with a new sense of invention and, finally, a clear and definite path of her own.
This month’s long-player Cut Your Teeth is La Grange’s follow up to 2012 debut Ashes and benefits from a gestation period in which the 27-year old Watford girl shed some of her folk-leanings for a more electro tinge to her sound.
“This time the songs began with me finding a beat and using that to set the tone and build a story around it,” she explains.
The result is beautifully organic and gives weight to La Grange’s talent and invention. Watch her perform “The Knife” above.
Cut Your Teeth is released on 2 June via ioki/Sony and can be streamed on Best Fit now.
