As he starts his UK tour, German avant garde piano experimentalist Volker Bertelmann - better known as Hauschka - treated us to an exclusive improvisation.
The rhythmic “Cafe Oto” - named for the East London venue where the 48-year German performed for our cameras - blends prepared piano and electronics, and sees Hauschka bring the instrument’s hammers back to their raw function.
Catch Hauschka at London’s Union Chapel on 25 September, and on tour around the UK. Abandoned City is out now via City Slang.
