H. Hawkline performs upcoming new single "It's a Drag" exclusively for Best Fit
H.Hawkline's "It's A Drag" first appeared on the recent split 7-inch with Toy and Jan Weaver, released in highly-limited numbers earlier this year for Record Store Day.
Thankfully the song's getting a dedicated single outing in late September and ahead of that H. Hawkline has announced details of a co-headline tour with Heavenly Recordings label-mate Gwenno as part of the label’s continuing Heavenly 25 birthday celebrations.
We met up with Evans during this year's Great Escape festival in Brighton where he cut the song indoors on a blisteringly hot afternoon. In its stripped back acoustic format, the pace of "It's a Drag" slows radically down and - without percussion to gee along Huw Evans - there's a beautifully laid-back feel to the track.
"It's a Drag" will also be available on the CD of the Rough Trade Shops Heavenly 25 compilation which is released early September.
Evan's tour with Gwenno hits Brudenell Games Room in Leeds (17 September), The Hug & Pint in Glasgow (18 September), Think Tank in Newcastle (19 September), Soup Kitchen in Manchester (20 September), Oslo in London (22 September), Lousiana in Bristol (23 September), The Basement in Brighton (24 September), Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff (25 September) and Rainbow Club in Birmingham (26 September).
H. Hawkline also joins the Garden Stage line-up on the second day of this year's End of the Road Festival (5 September), alongside Hooton Tennis Club, Eaves, Stealing Sheep, Drink, Saint Etienne and the Mark Lanegan Band. The festival runs from 4-6 September and tickets are on sale now.
H.Hawkline's album In The Pink Of Condition is out now. "It's A Drag" is released on 21 September via Heavenly
