Watch Ezra Furman and John Cale's secret forest chat at last year's End of the Road Festival
A surprise at last year's End of the Road Festival saw Ezra Furman interview Velvet Underground legend John Cale as part of Best Fit's secret sessions and you can now watch a video of that amazing clash of intellects.
Over a 40-minute chat and Q&A the two musicians covered a variety of subjects, including whether songwriting was analogous to dreams, the appeal of unreliable narrators, how to deal with fame, Cale's relationship with punk, and whether he really once attacked Brian Eno with chopsticks.
"It was a little bit thrilling, a little bit intimidating, to talk to John Cale," Furman told us. "That's somebody I've been listening to and talking about since I was a teenager. I had never met him before. I met him about 90 seconds before we went on stage and had a conversation about songwriting and stuff. I loved it. It was already clear to me that he's has a fascinating mind, but it came out in conversation. I feel like we just scratched the surface with what he said. Maybe we could uncover more if we kept scratching."
