“‘Nile’ explores my fascination with the extreme lengths we’ll go for someone,” explains Douglas Dare, “in this case, how that extreme love can sometimes lead to extreme pain.”
The Erased Tapes signed artist, who delivered debut longplayer Whelm earlier this year, brings together emotive and deeply involving songwriting and performance with a level of quality and musical intelligence we don’t often see. Collaborating with Best Fit for a session performance of “Nile” - alongside percussionist and producer Fabian Prynn - we holed up together one summer evening at Erased Tapes’ South London HQ to deliver a visual that both complimented and revealed greater depths to Dare’s talent.
“It was great to sit down and discus the feel of the track before we filmed,” Dare says. “[And] it’s clear to me that Best Fit really understood the song and - rather than just capturing us on film - they’ve enhanced the atmosphere.
“This is not typical with other live videos so I’m a big fan.”

Douglas Dare’s debut album Whelm is out now via Erased Tapes and details of an EP featuring remixes and a new track will be revealed later this month. He joins Fink as their only support throughout Europe and North America with a show at London’s KOKO on 28 November.
