The poster boy of Blessing Force’s more experimental side, Hugo Manuel’s tenure as Chad Valley saw its first long-playing fruit with last year’s Young Hunger.
The record – like many released in 2012 from a cluster of artists around the world lumped with the chillwave tag – transcended Manuel’s earlier EPs, with a far more lush and energized sound as well as some interesting collaborations from the likes of TEED’s Orlando Higginbottom and Fixers’ Jack Goldstein.
We met Hugo before Christmas at South London’s Red Bull Studios, Hugo cut a smooth and remarkably stripped back take on November’s single ‘Tell All Your Friends’.
