Unknown Mortal Orchestra announce new double album with lead single "Layla"
Unknown Mortal Orchestra have shared news of their upcoming double album V, and have released new cut "Layla" as the lead outing.
"Layla" is Unknown Mortal Orchestra's first new outing since their annual Christmas song "SB-10" arrived in December, and lands just days after Unknown Mortal Orchestra were announced as 2023 End of the Road Festival headliners alongside Wilco, Future Islands and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
"Layla" will appear on V with October's "I Killed Captain Cook" single.
V was created between Palm Springs, California and Hilo, Hawaii. Lead vocalist Ruban Nielson says, "In Hawaii, everything shifted off of me and my music. Suddenly, I was spending more time figuring out what others need and what my role is within my family. I also learned that things I thought were true of myself are bigger than I thought. My way of making mischief - that’s not just me - that’s my whole Polynesian side. I thought I was walking away from music to focus on family, but the two ended up connecting."
