YAANG delight with lusciously untamed latest cut "Til Morning Light"
Hailing from Manchester, the Northern sensations YAANG drop a raucous new single "Til Morning Light" sure to leave fans in sweaty elation
Lusciously untamed and undoubtedly fun, the electrifying post-punk dance trio YAANG have released "Til Morning Light" as a snippet of their upcoming debut EP, No. Boasting a prolific year of sold-out shows under their belt, the exuberant trio is putting on another headline gig in Manchester this very weekend to celebrate the good news they keep rolling out.
“Til Morning Light” is a defiantly hypnotic track infused with an industrial sound, with both retro influences of krautrock and French electro palpable in the thumping production. Concealed behind chilling electronic vocals, the single’s lyrics reveal a much softer, sensitive side to the trio. Reflecting on the single YAANG’s band members Davey Moore and Ben White explain, “it’s a tale told from the point of view of a robot learning to let go, fighting anxiety and doing his best to have a good time. Regardless of the opinions of others, opinions of oneself and the state of the world”.
Unexpectedly tender, the track’s message is one of human perseverance and connectivity. Rest assured, however, it is delivered with an abundance of humour and spunky energy that will feel everything but sentimental, oozing with the buoyant charisma and sardonic irony that comes as no surprise with a stand-up comedian in the band. Conjuring the sound of contemporaries likeNightbus and Duvet, the gruff, drone-like vocals intertwine with potent, growling guitar riffs to create a mesmerising cacophony that leaves listeners dizzy and exhilarated, sweaty and elated.
YAANG play around with different electronic samples to add to the intoxicatingly energising experience. Snappy drum loops lay the foundation of the song, crafting an irresistibly entrancing groove that transports you to a danceable haze, complimented by sprinkled, frisky synth stabs that keep you playfully alert. “So, dance with me, through tragedy / I'm a machine / No brain and two left feet / We'll twist and jive, 'til morning light / Baby that's right / I am my own worst enemy”. YAANG explain, "'So dance with me through tragedy' is a lyric I think we can all get behind no matter what your situation is”. No matter who you are or where you are, if you’re having a bad day it's time to drop your defences, embrace your imperfections, stick on YAANG’s new track and sweat all your woes away.
