Kassie Krut’s deliciously frenetic new industrial pop track “Racing Man”

The latest signees to Fire Talk Records have just released another ricocheting drum and bass track ahead of their debut self-titled EP coming later this year.

Composed of former members of the Philadelphia math-rock group Palm, Kasra Krut and Eve Alpert, and producer Matt Anderegg, the minds behind the new genre-bending electronica group Kassie Krut are experienced but hungry, ready to embark on something new. While the band itself is a recent emergence, the members have been on the scene for well over a decade and have already rubbed shoulders with other prominent makers in the indie space such as Cindy Lee, Chanel Beads, and Model/Actriz.

Initially, this group began as a solo project for Kasra Kurt. It was an outlet for his love of the UK club scene and electronic music outside of his work with Palm. However, after the band disbanded in 2023, plans changed and Kurt moved to New York with Alpert and Anderegg, where his once solo project became a trusty trio of friends.

Especially influenced by the sounds of grunge and grime prominent in London, the trio infused those genres with hyper-pop and electronic noise, more genres they had come to admire after listening to icons like SOPHIE and Kero Kero Bonito. The resulting sound is distinctly Kassie Krut, an underground DIY group pushing the boundaries of sound with their simultaneously wacky and wise experimentalism.

The group’s latest track “Racing Man” is rhythmic and enticing with its rich fusion of brazen jungle percussion and lush electronic noise. Krut and Alpert’s vocals are smeared together atop this highly textured landscape, making for an ultramodern, otherworldly sound that echoes into a lively stratosphere of maximalism. It’s like the soundtrack for a sci-fi video game with its relentless frenetic beats, experimental composition, and wild sense of unrestricted movement.

Accompanied by a video made by Belgian multimedia artist Veronika Romhany, the release of “Running Man” also coincides with the announcement of Kassie Krut’s upcoming debut EP, out on December 6. The self-produced project was made with sonic balance at the forefront and is a mix of opposing textures such as acoustic and electric. To get a taste of those sounds to come, listen to the lead single for the upcoming Kassie Krut EP, “Racing Man”, below.
