EVALINA effortlessly meshes lush pop and R&B in latest single “Raincheck (Not Forever)”

The UK-based EVALINA has already proved herself to be a long-time proficient songwriter, having written popular dance tracks for the likes of Felix Jaehn to Nicky Romero. While the spotlight fell on others in the past, 2024 was the beginning of a new era for the singer. Now this artist to watch is ready for more with her latest release, “Raincheck (Not Forever)”.

Co-written with Kierran and produced by Courage, EVALINA was motivated by musical partnerships and pop predecessors while making her sparkling new single. “During the writing session, I was so inspired by the talent of my musical collaborators Kierran & Courage that I felt empowered to let my natural instincts as a vocalist & songwriter pour in to this song, & perhaps even more apparent than in my previous releases, really feel like the spirit of my musical influences Tori Kelly & JoJo were channelled into this record,” she said.

The creative energy and growing confidence also inspired her to take her sound in a new direction. “With the introduction of more organic elements in the production, it feels like there’s a clear evolution in my sound coming into this year,” she said.

With notes of pop and R&B, “Raincheck (Not Forever)” is made of lush guitars and springy beats that mesh effortlessly with EVALINA's expert lyricism. Detailing a great relationship turned sour, the song walks a line between cheeky and sincere and eventually explodes into an effervescent haze of addictive beats and empowering lyrics. It’s a distinctly pop ballad, but it’s not quite sentimental. It’s about having lived and learned, and knowing when it’s time to walk away.

“‘Raincheck’ is a unique release for me as I’ve never had such a quick turnover on a record having only written this song just over a month ago. Usually I’d wait for the ‘right time’ to release a song but I decided not to overthink it as I love it so much and couldn’t wait to release it. It feels super fresh and relevant to who I am as an artist at this moment,” EVALINA said.
