Daffo grins and bears it with the help of familiar vices in alt-americana track “Quick Fix”

As you sink deeper into that eternal haze of numb, depression leaves you feeling like a stranger in your own bones. The disorientation makes you desperate for a remedy. Daffo sings about their own sources of distraction in latest single “Quick Fix”

A guitar strums softly at the start of the track, a delicate cadence that drifts across a lonely soundscape. Daffo’s voice comes in to meet it, singing of familiar vices to lean on like processed foods and Camel cigarettes – quick fixes to a deep emotional pain. They dabble in the extreme ends of things as simple harmonies add depth to the sound. Sleeping like the dead or laying awake all night; no longer finding joy in the simple pleasures of life; even sex is a chore. Daffo picks up a quick fix and masks it to find a cure another day.

With other features from a contemplative clarinet, a hazy synth, and strings, this song is as delicate as a person could be under a deep emotional spell. It’s accompanied by a contrastingly playful music video.

“This song is about the temporary ways in which I comfort myself, habits that ultimately lead to more suffering. I started the song before I went on my first tour,” Daffo shares. “The first verse, about eating junk and smoking, I squeezed out during a very intense writer's block. On tour, I quit smoking for my voice. When I came back from tour I still couldn’t write, until one day I started smoking again. That day I was able to finish the song, my slight regression became fuel for the rest of the words.”

Like similar tracks by peers Kate Kirby or Hand Habits, this single is refreshing in its softness and vulnerability. In a world where so many people struggle to put into words their loss of self or connection to others, this is exactly the kind of music we need. Those resounding lyrics are a staple of Daffo, also known as 20-year-old Gabi Gamberg out of Brooklyn, New York. Still, this is a more gentle track out of Gamberg’s discography, which often wields familiar alt-rock sounds like layered guitars and driving drums.

Throughout 2025 Daffo is on tour with pop acts like Blondshell and Annie DiRusso. With shows happening across the UK, Canada, and the US, chances are you’ll have an opportunity to catch this burgeoning alt-rock act live.
