Candar. sonically shake the nice guy on "Flower In A Gun"
Striking a delicate balance between the, well, striking and delicate rising London duo Candar. continue to deliver commanding alt-rock prowess
Trading in the tranquility of North Devon for the hazy thrills of London, which they now call home, Candar. are rising the ranks of the emerging music scene after an impressive string of raw, jagged alt-rock singles from the last twelve months. Forming their sound from hearing the shouts of crowds reverberate off of the sticky walls of underground clubs, and tying this to the metallic, drumshed aesthetic of warehouses across the capital, the duo melds thrashing guitars with crystalline and candied vocals.
“‘Flower In A Gun’ is a message to the nice guy: cut the sweet shit," Candar. summarise their latest track. "It captures a relationship which is carved by a craving for intensity, raw emotion, and a little bit of chaos."
The lyrics don't dance around dissecting the partner in question, detailing clear instructions for improvement; "Give me what I want to hear / take the medicine", they command on the chorus, before following it up with further specifications, "prove it to me / I want to know that you are crazy... crazy about me."
Candar. demand attention, and not just on "Flower In A Gun". Having already secured two Glastonbury slots within their very first handful of singles, and bringing their expanding set to sweaty, spinning venues across the UK, they are proven ones to watch.
