Ari Rivera offers sweet and reflective “house of pies”

22-year-old LosAngeles based Ari Rivera has honed his craft in creating impactful pop tracks with emo-sensibilities. Pulling from multiple mediums to create his vision, he released fifteen demos in 2022 as part of his 5664fairave.com collection along with an array of digital art pieces, and then shared his debut EP in early January 2023. Returning with latest track "house of pies", he hints towards a new EP ari rivera ep 2 set for release on 3rd April 2024.

The song sketches a burning young love, and the circumstances in which they fell into eachother's lives. Rivera explains, “’House of Pies’ is a song about meeting my now partner at my favourite diner and talking about their life and all the things they’ve been through, and everywhere they’ve been. The track was made with the help of my friend Billy (Lemos) and my friends at Harcourt Paloma, a musical collective of incredible artists I helped found. Eternal gratitude to both of them.”

Calling on influences from James Taylor to Drake, and Clairo to Dijon, Rivera creates a soft soundscape that allows the listener a moment of peace, and an opportunity to sunbathe in his charming vocals. Exploring a more vulnerable side of his artistry, he continues to refine his pop sound and also creatively expand the visual side of his work.

“I wanted to be less precious about the music," he contemplates. "My last record took so long to make and for what haha, so I wanted to just treat these like songs. Less pretense maybe, and that’s why I chose that title. At the same time, there was a lot of grief I was dealing with and I think thematically the songs are a lot about that. It was fun finding that balance though, heavy song but not treating it like some world shattering piece of art that I have to be cautious with. I think it helped with the throw paint at the wall and then pick what we kept in the process."
