Royal Blood - McClusky's, Kingston 28/08/14
Royal Blood played a special, intimate show in Kingston to celebrate the launch of a self-titled debut album released earlier in week and now sitting proudly at the top of the charts.
With queues circling the venue hours before they took to the stage, there was an overwhelming feeling that this would be one of the last times that you would be able to see the band play to such an intimate crowd.
The duo thrashed through a sweat-inducing set that included the singles “Little Monster” and new song “Figure It Out” that sent crowd-surfers flying in all directions. Lead singer Mike Kerr had to remind the crowd to keep the mosh pits “sweet and safe” as they repeatedly burst into a life of their own.
Returning to the stage, the pair played a one song encore of “Hole” which saw Ben Thatcher bring a the Marmosets’ drummer on stage to play drums alongside himself. It was an explosive end to a night that reminded everyone present of why the duo are deserving of their meteoric rise.
