Best Fit: One to Watch 2017 and BBC Sound of runner-up Raye brought her infectious brand of high-energy pop to a sold-out crowd at East London club XOYO last night, delivering a set that more than lived up to the hype.
Despite being branded as one of pop’s most promising newcomers, with a plethora of famous besties in her midst (you might recognise her from Stormzy’s new video and Charli XCX directed her video for "I, U, Us'), the 19 year old never let the air of expectation affect her onstage as she confidently commanded the stage throughout.
Working through old favourites such as "Hotbox" and "Bet U Wish", it was the new songs such as "My Girl" and "Distraction" that proved that she’s a pop powerhouse worth keeping an eye on. Another set highlight came in the shape of her cover of Daniel Beddingfield classic "Gotta Get Thu’ This", incorporating a verse of Rae Sremmurd's viral hit "Black Beatles".
She finished the set with a high octane performance of her hit "I, U, Us", leaving the crowd with an appetite to keep the party going.
