If your search engine sent you our way with the promise of lesbian twins, you're in for a disappointment I'm afraid, as we are a music site. So you might want to head back to Google and have another go. As you are here though, feel free to pull your trousers up and take a look around. Good aren't we? Why not take a look at these photos, they're brilliant. And while we have your attention, here is a review of Tegan and Sara's latest album, (which I guess may have sent the Doctor Who fanboys our way also, here, try this album out, your kind of music) who yes, are lesbians, and twins, and have made a rather fine record. This Canadian duo are on album number five, which is receiving a rather belated release on the UK side of the Atlantic, having been available Stateside since last summer. Both Tegan and Sara are writers and contribute equally to the songs on The Con, and certainly take in a wide variety of musical influences resulting in an eclectic mix of themes and ideas. Title track 'The Con' is great, a sour tale of the bitter side of love, musically a genre-mashing blend of electronica and conventional drums and guitar. It pulses against acerbic lyrics tainted with angry regret and little remorse.Elsewhere, 'Relief Next To Me' is a more considered track, but no less interesting, bouncing guitar lines underscored with shuffling percussion. Their vocal style is biting and direct, demanding you to listen to lyrics, their two voices blending beautiful in harmony. There is a simplicity to their music at times, 'Back In Your Head' full of childlike melodies and a patter of piano. 'Dark Come Soon' is more dramatic, sweeping electric guitars leading into a darker territories. However, despite the presence of a few good songs, there is too much of the average here, which makes it hard to recommend. However, it is interesting enough, and the title track is well worth downloading.
