The first instalment of Sonta's Hood Love trilogy comes straight from the heart
"Hood Love Vol. 1"
It begins with “Hood Love,” a track about the start of a new relationship. Sonta sings “I play hard to get but on the inside butterflies are flying / It’s the start of something new.” By the time we reach “Forever Yours,” Sonta has fully fell in love and can’t picture losing the relationship. The perfect romance takes a turn for the worse with “Type of Way” and “Your Mistake” when Sonta sings about being cheated on: "If she’s that important to you then maybe that’s where you should be / I never come second to none and i never had to compete."
Sonta’s raw and emotional vocals on Hood Love Vol I are what makes this EP stand out. The beats on each track give the project a great groove, but they're not the shining star. The lyrics and Sonta’s voice show how honest this project is and how connected she feels to the songs she is singing. The Hood Love trilogy is dedicated to her first love, who was shot in front of her in a park where they spent a lot of time together. It is clear, just from listening to the first part of the trilogy, that this project comes straight from Sonta’s heart.
