Mr Oizo gets All Wet with Charli XCX, Skrillex, Peaches and more
"All Wet"
An unexpected hit worldwide in 1999, "Flat Beat" - and its video featuring a furry yellow character named Flat Eric, who features here again on the artwork - have become synonymous with his work till this day. But while that was Dupieux's undeniable commercial peak, there have been many highs since that have helped him secure a cult following among aficionados of French house.
Having enticed a cast of musicians to join him for All Wet, including Skrillex, Charli XCX, Peaches and German techno producer Boys Noize, his sixth LP is one that sees him make another climb towards mainstream success.
All Wet is an album with its fair share of sturdy pop, but hidden deep alongside are a selection of instrumental, French-spirited house and slouch-shouldered techno that act as pillars to help support and connect them together.
It’s on the upbeat, rave-infused and Charli XCX-featuring “Hand In The Fire” - a vibrant hi-energy burst of four-four driven beats and classic rave samples that wouldn’t sound out of place at most warehouse parties throughout Europe at 2am - that the album hits best, while the oldskool vibes of Skrillex collaboration "End Of The World" meld club atmospherics with electronic soul and early hip-hop.
