GRETA's Forever We'll Be Dancing is an energetic pop-filled delight

Yet her talent and potential are promising. Greta is part of the disco-synthpop revival wave that has been sweeping over us in recent years. Her transcendent music is as paralyzing as it is contagious and takes shape around ethereal melodies with shades of dream pop.

This second album, Forever We'll Be Dancing, is in the conceptual continuity of the previous album, underlining the personal development and introspection of its author. However, the musical colour is very different. If Ardent Spring was very ethereal, Forever We'll Be Dancing captures an energy and club essence as if the adventure was taking place on the dancefloor. For this Greta has evolved her formula to something more electronic, touching on various trends, such as techno, trance, electro-pop. As a result, Forever We'll Be Dancing diminishes the retro aesthetic for something more modern, which allows the album to have more to offer.

Reflected in the midst of the pandemic, a large handful of the songs on Forever We'll Be Dancing are dedicated to her husband, or describe the anxious and depressive period she experienced during the confinement. There is a paradox between the upbeat musical colour of this album and Greta's sometimes dark writing, but it should feel more like an outlet, seeking to free her mind.

The introduction "Vibrant" synthesises all the energy and messages of this record in a stunning disco. It's also an absolutely phenomenal song that won't leave your head. All the elements are there, the groovy retro bass, the flashy percussion, the unstoppable synthesizer melodies and the emotional power of Greta's vocals.

Forever We'll Be Dancing is a 33 minute experience without any waste. It's rich and fresh without losing a deep homogeneity. Like "Vibrant", each song is formidable and adds value. In the end, it's hard to single out any particular song because everything is good. One example is "Wonder", a euphoric and seductive adventure in its construction. The exhilarating “eponymous song” sounds more like a powerful tribute to the Italo Disco movement. Finally, "Bliss II" suspends time for four minutes, delivering a nocturnal anthem that fuses dream pop, trance and drum ‘n’ bass, for a quivering pleasure.
