Finn Foxell keeps it light on latest EP Alright Sunshine
"Alright Sunshine"
As a labour of love and group effort, Foxell is accompanied by fellow artists that make up the Elevation Meditation collective (Lord Apex, XAV and Louis Culture) as well as the smooth arrangements from the likes of producers p-rallel, Jacob Manson and NIKHIL Beats. A well-rolled project that carries a slow burn in its first four tracks and a faster tempo in its final three, it’s clean, concise and exactly the right balance for this generation of hip-hop appreciators.
Laying further foundations to his discography and providing his fans with even catchier records and new ears something chilled to nod along to, Finn Foxell narrates the trivialities of growing up; messing about with friends and being reckless with his feelings. It’s a short story which comes of age in just over 20 minutes. Bouncing off alliteration and playing ping pong with his words, adjectives, nouns and verbs Foxell’s lines feel breezy, setting a vibe to jam to, affording easy replayability to the listener.
While this world is yet to enjoy rays with no worries, Alright Sunshine is an optimistic glance through the eyes of a maturing artist. Released via the London music label Fair Youth and spotlighted by COLORS and Spotify’s RADAR programme, there is much more to see from Finn Foxell, someone who clearly knows this life is a marathon, not a sprint.
