Londoners 6 Day Riot are an interesting little band. English folk with a shuttle towards Klezmer and carnival. That Eastern European slant with the indigenous English folk gives the band a refreshing, quite joyful sound. This EP is their third release, after Maybe (2006) and their debut full length Folie a Deux (2007). Despite their distinctive native sound their spirit and eclectics would sound at home anywhere. They are quite contagious.Four songs of brilliance, full of warmth and tender heart. Opener 'Go Canada' is immediately uplifting, Ukeleles and trumpets at the ready, this is a ho down - a good old knees up! Flagons of ale spilling, people singing, its all fun. Tamara Schlesingers vocals are cute and bubbly, infecting us with her spirit. 'Sky Father' takes the horns up a notch, whilst 'Gerald and The Gliders' rolls along with some bluegrass flavours. This band really mix up the country pot, whether its bluegrass, Klezmer, or vaudeville with a hint of the wild west, on 'Last Stand', they entertain and mix it up to create their own brand of catchy, sun drenched pop.Four songs isn't enough. Brilliant stuff.
