Yaw Evans, Hinako Omori and more to play FLOAT's 2023 World Piano Day event at The National Gallery
FLOAT, a London-based brand and marketing agency founded by Sofia Ilyas, has detailed its London World Piano Day event for 2023, which will take place at The National Gallery and will include performances from Yaw Evans, Hinako Omori and more.
This year will mark Ilyas' seventh World Piano Day event, and will take place at The National Gallery in London on 31 March with a line-up curated by Ilyas, featuring Yaw Evans, Hinako Omori (alongside contemporary dancer Chihiro Kawasaki), Karim Kamar, Vetle Nærø. The event will also include installation artist, beekeeper and educator Lily Hunter Green.
Ilyas says of the upcoming event, "It's an exceptional lineup of artists pushing the boundaries with bespoke pieces celebrating the piano - expect the sounds of bees emanating from a home found in the instrument, a contemporary dance performed throughout, and much more."
She adds, "As a Pakistani woman in the UK fascinated by the history of art since studying an Art A-level, The National Gallery has always been an inspiring and aspirational environment. In each visit throughout the years since, whilst growing my career in music, I've continued to be in awe of its ability to progress culture and to come full circle and be hosting an event here feels surreal."
World Piano Day 2023 at The National Gallery is a free event that takes place on 31 March from 12-5pm GMT. Visit wearefloat.co for more information.
