Yasmin Hass shares "Maybe" the second single from her debut EP
London-based singer/songwriter Yasmin Hass has shared “Maybe” as the second track from her upcoming debut EP, Worst of Me.
Written with Jonah Summerfield (Holly Humberstone, Matilda Mann), “Maybe” was produced by The 1975 member Ross MacDonald, and Ed Thomas (Jorja Smith, Stormzy, Maisie Peters), and follows her debut single, "Cleo".
The single explores the conflict of emotions felt after a break up. “I found myself relieved we’d ended things one second and then miserable about it the next,” she explains. “I actually wrote the second half of the song from my ex’s perspective, as I wanted our opposing point of view to mirror the ups and downs. And when Ross and Ed produced it, it took on this new energy, that felt more hopeful, which I just loved."
Despite the negative connotations of the EP title, the artist quickly rejects the idea that baring one’s rougher parts makes for negative art. “There’s actually a freedom to admitting that there are parts of me I’m nervous to share,” she explains. “I want to draw on those and write about them more. I think there’s a strength in that - in the imperfections. They’re what I find most interesting.’’
"Maybe" is out now. Worst of Me is set for release on 7 February via Cool Online.
