William Doyle shares new single, "Now In Motion"
William Doyle has shared the new single "Now In Motion" taken from his forthcoming album Springs Eternal.
“"Now In Motion" is the sound of dominoes beginning to tumble. A chain reaction that’s been set off and it can’t be reversed," Doyle explains of the new single. "One thing has led to another and now you’re knee-deep in it. In many ways this is the overall theme of the album Springs Eternal: there’s a deluge and you’re caught in the midst of it, maybe you’re even responsible for it, and perhaps you didn’t even notice until now it’s too late. But the best response, maybe the only response in the face of this irrevocable thing is to revel in it. Accept the absurdity in the situation, see the dark comedy and laugh/dance/sing/drink yourself senseless.”
Springs Eternal presents a strange and thrilling cast of characters – from cowboys to castaways – who just might be Doyle, once or twice removed. “Most of the songs are in the first-person, but rather than being autobiographical, I was trying to imagine hyperreality versions of myself,” Doyle says. “What if decisions I made in my life had resulted in the self of each particular song? How many degrees of separation am I from those realities? It’s a frightening thought, and frightening thoughts often make for good songs.”
Springs Eternal is to be released on 16 February via Tough Love.
