Wild Pink release new Julien Baker duet "Hold My Hand"
Wild Pink have unveiled a new Julien Baker duet titled "Hold My Hand", which is the second preview of their forthcoming album ILYSM.
"Hold My Hand" follows Wild Pink's July lead single and title-track "ILYSM", and sees them duet with Julien Baker.
"I wrote that song right after my first surgery, about lying on the operating table where a member of the surgical team held my hand right before I went under," says lead vocalist John Ross. "It sounds kind of arbitrary, and like it shouldn’t have been as impactful as it was, but I felt very comforted and wanted to capture that loving feeling in the song."
He adds, "I knew pretty quickly that I wanted it to be a duet, and I'm super grateful to Julien for joining me on it. This was one of the first songs we rehearsed together as a band in the studio and David’s piano part felt great almost immediately. There were a couple moments like that in the recording process where a song just immediately fell into place as soon as we started playing it."
ILYSM will follow Wild Pink's 2021 album A Billion Little Lights, and features contributions from J Mascis, Ryley Walker, Yasmin Williams and Samantha Crain. Ross co-produced the new album with Justin Pizzoferrato (Pixies, Body/Head, Speedy Ortiz) and Peter Silberman of The Antlers.
"Holy My Hand" featuring Julien Baker is out now. Wild Pink's ILYSM album will be released via Royal Mountain Records on 14 October, and is available to pre-order now.
