Watch the trailer for the new Amy Winehouse biopic, Back to Black
The first trailer for Sam Taylor-Johnson's forthcoming Amy Winehouse biopic has been released, featuring Marisa Abela in the leading role.
Back to Black is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey, Nowhere Boy, A Million Little Pieces), and sees Industry's Marisa Abela star as Winehouse, and Jack O’Connell (Skins, This Is England, Unbroken) appearing as Blake Fielder-Civil, Winehouse’s former husband. This is the first Amy Winehouse film to be backed by her family, following multiple unauthorised releases including 2015's Amy and 2018's Amy Winehouse: Back to Black.
Taylor-Johnson completed the film with writer Martin Greenhalgh; the pair previously worked together on the 2009 John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy. The biopic portrays Winehouse’s ascent from a teenager playing small clubs to an award-winning artist. The teaser also hints at her tumultuous relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil.
Back to Black will reportedly be released on 12 April in the UK.
