Vince Staples to star in Netflix comedy series loosely inspired by his life
It's been announced that Vince Staples will star in and executive produce a new Netflix comedy series that's semi-autobiographical.
According to Deadline, the comedy series will be set in Long Beach, California, where Staples grew up, and will reportedly be titled The Vince Staples Show.
Staples will star in the show, which is loosely based on his life, and will also executive produce alongside Maurice Williams, Kenya Barris for Khalabo Ink Society, Corey Smyth and Calmatic. Calmatic is due to direct the first two episodes of The Vince Staples Show.
Staples said of the series, "I am excited to partner with Netflix and Kenya Barris on The Vince Staples Show. This has been something I have been developing for some time and I am happy it’s coming to fruition."
As well as working on The Vince Staples Show, he's been on set for the White Men Can't Jump reboot, and has also got a role in a comedy pilot titled The Wood, which is based on the 1999 film of the same name.
Vince Staples released his latest album Ramona Park Broke My Heart in April.
