Viagra Boys announce forthcoming album, viagr aboys
Stockholm post-punk band Viagra Boys have announced their new album, viagr aboys, alongside the first single, “Man Made of Meat”.
The album’s first single, “Man Made of Meat,” draws inspiration from vocalist Sebastian Murphy’s experience cruising through Walmarts while touring the US with Queens of the Stone Age last year.
The single arrives alongside an incredible video that finds Murphy as an accidental artist. Director Daniel Björkman notes: Imagination is gone. Creativity is a concept. Stealing is caring. Theft is priceless. Money a means to an end. Art is a lie. Computers are useless. Music is the ultimate teacher. Taste the enemy of creativity, and a better future. Artificial imagination is here. The world doesn't make sense, so why should we make images that do?
In 2022, the band released their third album Cave World, the volcanic satire taking shots at the conspiracy theorists and anti-vaxxers that surrounded him. With the forthcoming album, viagr aboys, frontman Murphy has shifted focus inward. “The whole political thing was exhausting,” Murphy admits with a chuckle. “This is like a self-titled album but a bit simple and stupid—because that’s how I am.”
viagr aboys will be released on 25 April via their newly launched label Shrimptech Enterprises.
