Two Door Cinema Club cancel EU tour so bassist can have surgery for "incurable autoimmune disease"
Two Door Cinema Club have shared a statement from their bassist Kevin Baird, who reveals their EU tour across September and October is cancelled so he can have surgery for an "incurable autoimmune disease".
Last Friday (2 September) Two Door Cinema Club released their new album Keep On Smiling, and this afternoon (5 September) they've shared a statement written by their bassist Kevin Baird cancelling their forthcoming shows across September and October.
"Earlier this year I was diagnosed with an incurable autoimmune disease and have been receiving treatment for this by the incredible NHS," he wrote. "I've loved every second of playing shows again this summer, especially after such a long time away but the harsh reality is that it's been really hard on my body. I've been experiencing a lot of ups and downs in managing this bastard of a disease and after a lot of long chats with my doctor we've decided that the next step is surgery to remove the affected organ after which it should be much more manageable."
Baird continued by announcing that their "EU tour in September/October" is cancelled, and they'll provide updates about shows after his operation, depending on how well the recovery is going. Baird concluded by thanking the NHS, his bandmates and their fans.
Refunds will be available from point of purchase. Love. TDCC x
