Twilight: New Moon director reveals he turned down Taylor Swift's cameo request
Twilight: New Moon director Chris Weitz has revealed that he turned down an agent's request for Taylor Swift to make a cameo in the film.
During a recent appearance on The Twilight Effect podcast hosted by Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) and Melanie Howe, Chris Weitz, who directed the second film in The Twilight Saga, spoke about turning down a cameo request for Taylor Swift, revealing that he thought her appearance would be too distracting.
Weitz explained, "Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard, and Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time and he said, 'Taylor would like to be in this movie – not because of you, but she's a Twi-hard!'"
He explained that the agent told him Swift was happy to be "someone at the cafeteria, or the diner or whatever, but she just wants to be in this movie," and revealed he turned down the request, believing that Swift's cameo would be too distracting.
"The hardest thing for me was to be like, the moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything," Weitz said. "I kick myself for it too, because – I was like, wow, I could've been hanging out with Taylor Swift. She must have been like, 'Who is this jerk?' But sometimes you make decisions thinking this is for the best of the film." Skip to 31:37 to hear Weitz talk about Swift.
