Transgressive announce 20th anniversary events featuring Arlo Parks, Johnny Flynn, Marika Hackman and more
Transgressive, the independent music group comprising a record label, publisher and management company, have announced 20th anniversary celebrations featuring artists from their roster.
Since its inception in 2004, Transgressive has worked with globally acclaimed, award-winning and chart-topping artists including Foals, Flume, SOPHIE, Loyle Carner, Black Country, New Road, Let’s Eat Grandma, Julia Jacklin, Regina Spektor, Beverly Glenn Copeland, The WAEVE, Wesley Joseph, The Shins, Alvvays, Mykki Blanco, Songhoy Blues, At The Drive-In, Moonchild Sanelly and Damon Albarn.
To commence its birthday celebrations, Transgressive today announces a series of very special events in London over the course of the next four months, commencing with a rare show in Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre with Arlo Parks and Marika Hackman, and featuring a slew of its roster from around the world in venues around the city. The shows will be held in association with charity partners War Child and Music Venue Trust.
Commenting on the events, Company Partners Toby L, Tim Dellow and Lilas Bourboulon jointly state: “We are thrilled to celebrate the first twenty years of Transgressive. It’s a harrowing understatement to remark upon what a challenging time it is in the world right now, but we hope that the activities we’re planning can continue to shine a light on the irrepressible, unifying power of music and art, and the potency and strength of the human spirit."
"In order to tell a bit more of a London story, we’re revisiting some of the venues that were seminal in our origins - not least the Garage in Highbury, above which the first ever Transgressive office existed," their statement continues. "We’re as excited to see our first ever management artist, Johnny Flynn, perform his biggest ever show at Hammersmith Apollo, as we are to witness South Africa’s incredible a capella band The Joy opening in support. The fact that the Open Air Theatre have kindly opened their doors for a rare summer concert, featuring the incredible double-bill of Arlo Parks and Marika Hackman, is a real treat.
“We will go right back to the beginning with Mystery Jets, one of our first ever signings, when they take over Dalston’s EartH on a Friday night. KOKOKO! from DRC and France will represent the electronic pulse of the company at Village Underground. And we are thrilled, although slightly scared, to announce the return of The Moonlandingz, with support from our brand new signings from Crewe, UNIVERSITY, at the aforementioned Garage.
Pre-sale tickets go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday 29 May), with general sale tickets available from Friday (31st May). Sign up to the Transgressive mailing-list here in order to get early access. For more information, visit transgressiverecords.com.
