Tony Njoku returns with new single and film, "ETERNITY"
Tony Njoku has returned with a new track “ETERNITY” shared alongside a video, envisioned and co-directed by Njoku.
Sharing his words on the track, Njoku offers: “Eternity is a track that embodies the essence of endlessness—both personally and, more profoundly, in a cosmic sense. It serves as a sonic poem reflecting the eternal, countless cycles of the universe. I see humanity, like the cosmos itself, as an ongoing occurrence with no true beginning or end—much like the Ouroboros..
The song captures this timelessness, the slow rise and collapse of phenomena, the ebb and flow where all our histories, experiences, and memories reside—the joyful and painful, the mundane and extraordinary. Every major event, every fleeting moment, is part of this vast, ever-moving ocean of energy. Within it, there is harmony and discord, unity and fragmentation, creation and destruction—a perpetual cycle that defines existence itself.”
“To accompany this track, I’ve created a video that centers on a pivotal event in modern human history: Britain’s colonial campaign, which spanned over 400 years. The video is a montage of imagery depicting the lingering remnants of colonial Britain—from palaces and statues to meeting places once frequented by notorious figures of the era. These are interwoven with images of West African artifacts and a symbolic ritual involving scarification.
These latter images hold deep personal significance for me as a Black person sharing both British and Nigerian nationalities. In many ways, this video is an exploration of my own identity through the lens of history. My existence is the result of a violent convergence of worlds—a collision of cultures shaped by conquest and resistance. This historical context is inescapable, it’s woven into the fabric of who I am. Through this work, I find myself trying to make sense of that legacy and perhaps understand my place within this brief moment in the vast continuum of human history.”
"ETERNITY" is released via his own newly founded label Studio Njoku.
