Three Quarter Skies detail upcoming EP, On Fire

03 April 2025, 15:18 | Written by Tyler Damara Kelly

Three Quarter Skies – the band formed by Simon Scott of Slowdive – have announced the release of forthcoming EP, On Fire.

"Drab are phenomenal live and have played on at least three Slowdive tours now,” says Simon Scott on the collaboration with Drab. “As big fans of bands I adore, such as Suicide, Seefeel and Cocteau Twins, I knew they’d create a rather wonderful remix. They heard an early mix of ‘Crows’ and told me how much they loved the song, so I’m delighted this is being released."

The release includes three re-workings and a new version of the title track, originally released on 2023’s cassette-only EP, Universal Flames.

"Sonic Boom has been a huge inspiration since I saw Spacemen 3 play at Notre Dame Hall in London in 1989. His remix brings a hypnotic and fresh dynamic to the motorik mood; it pulsates along the sonic autobahn with a kaleidoscopic eye on the song’s melody and groove," he adds, speaking about the other collaborators.

"Bark Psychosis were so ahead of the curve when I discovered their music in the early-’90s,” recalls Simon. “I still cherish and play those early 12” records on Cheree, so it’s a huge honour that Graham has remixed ‘Holy Water’. His brooding and sub-heavy reworking brings out the darker undertow of the song. It’s intoxicating!"

Tracklist:

  1. On Fire (Long Mix)
  2. Crows (Drab Majesty Remix)
  3. Holy Water (Graham Sutton Remix)
  4. On Fire (Sonic Boom Remix)

The On Fire EP is available to pre-order on limited edition smoky 12” vinyl – exclusively from Bandcamp and Rough Trade – as well as digitally.
