The Weeknd’s "Blinding Lights" is the first song to surpass four billion streams on Spotify
Variety has revealed that The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” has become the first song to surpass four billion streams on Spotify.
Last year in January, "Blinding Lights" became the most-streamed song on Spotify, overtaking Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You". A month later, he broke another record, becoming the first artist in history to pass 100 million monthly listeners on the platform, after he linked up with Ariana Grande on a new remix of "Die For You". By the time March came around, he was named as the world's most popular artist by Guinness World Records.
"Blinding Lights" was co-written by Max Martin (the most successful songwriter/producer of the last 30 years), Oscar Holter, Ahmad Balshe (AKABelly) and Jason “DaHeala” Quenneville.
