The War On Drugs share new tracks "Oceans of Darkness" and "Slow Ghost"
The War On Drugs have shared two more previously unreleased tracks - "Oceans of Darkness" and "Slow Ghost" - from the upcoming deluxe box set of I Don't Live Here Anymore.
This Friday (30 September) The War On Drugs will release the limited edition deluxe box set of last year's I Don't Live Here Anymore album. The box set will feature a 7" with the previously unreleased songs "Oceans of Darkness" and "Slow Ghost", and today the digital deluxe version of the album, including the two new songs, has been released.
Adam Granduciel says, "One night in LA, while we were many months into working on what would be I Don't Live Here Anymore, Dave [Hartley] uncovered a stripped down demo in my dropbox called "Oceans of Darkness", and insisted we try recording it. We were frustrated and exhausted at the time, but we set up in a circle after dinner and worked it out as the tape was rolling. It’s rare that a song of ours could feel this complete after only a few takes, but it had all the desperation and urgency that we had been looking for. Ultimately I didn’t include it on the record because I couldn’t find a home for it among the other songs, but we’re happy we can share it with you now."
The War On Drugs' box set will also feature a 16-page booklet with unseen photos from the studio, a poster, postcards, an embroidered patch, and a copy of the album on cassette.
The War On Drugs will release the limited edition deluxe I Don't Live Here Anymore box set on Friday (30 September). Pre-order now from shop.thewarondrugs.net.
