Smokey Saint Lou Lou captivate Birthdays

The Capital was subjected to yet another wonderful showcase of Swedish electro-pop last night, as terrifically talented twins Saint Lou Lou headlined Dalston’s new-music hideout, Birthdays last night.
Eye-catching from first to last, the set was a dreamy mix of the sisters’ delicate tones, disco synths and a rare but somewhat welcome inclusion of, a punching, crashing drum kit. The diversity in their song-writing fought its way through the basement smoke as the almost melancholic ‘Maybe You’ was immediately followed by the dancing tempo of ’Skylights’, introduced by the girls excitedly admitting, “We think you’ll like this” – we certainly did.
