Mapei plays debut UK show at London's Cargo
To celebrate the release of her latest single “Change”, Mapei headlined London’s Cargo last night to a packed out crowd.
Having caught the attention with her breakthrough single “Don’t Wait”, the New York-born, Stockholm-based artist has announced the release of her debut full-length Hey Hey via Columbia due in September.
This first UK outing showcased her blend of pop/RnB, mixing free-flowing rap with the kind of mainstream catchiness that so caught the eye at the back-end of 2013.
With a cry of “Where you at Cargo?” Mapei appeared in tribal print, flanked by two synchronised dancers and backed-up by busy bass, drum and sampler accompaniment. A fully rapped cut - “Second 2 None” - opened the set, before the aforementioned singles.

Previously unheard “Believe” and finale “Come Baby” were radio-ready highlights from the short show; the latter received a boisterous reaction that encouraged an impromptu, sung-along encore of “Don’t Wait” to wrap things up.
