Maggie Rogers sells out the Brixton O2 for her biggest UK show yet
Security could not keep the audience down as we rose to our feet from start to finish, gazing down to Maggie Rogers from the circle seating above the stage.
Maggie Rogers is as intrepid as she is humble. Playing a sold-out show in Brixton, she showed no fear as she strode across the stage in front of a packed-out audience.
The American singer/songwriter and producer, who rose to fame overnight after a masterclass with Pharrell Williams at NYC University, performed tracks across her recent album release Heard It In A Past Life, including a cover of “Tim McGraw” by Taylor Swift.
Rogers had pre-empted a surprise on social media, and finally she spoke to the audience: “there is a full moon and we are in South London”. Out came Florence Welch to perform her hit “Light On”, and unable to do much else, the crowd erupted into screams.
Despite her rapidly mounting list of achievements, Maggie Rogers remains an incredibly human performer. As she continues on the European leg of her tour, she's sure to leave thousands more moved and exhausted fans in her wake.
